London has been named the world's most popular destination for 2025 in the 25th anniversary edition of the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.
This year, Tripadvisor's “Best of the Best Destinations” includes seven categories: trending, culture, food, honeymoon, solo, and 25th anniversary.
The UK capital surpassed Dubai to earn the best in class title due to its "culinary scene and rich arts and heritage offering," ranking second globally for foodie destinations and third for cultural hotspots.
The travel guidance platform assessed the quality and quantity of all-time reviews to also declare London as number one in the special 25th anniversary destinations list.
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, referred to London as the "best city in the world to visit" after achieving Tripadvisor's top spot.
"With our unparalleled mix of cultural attractions, renowned food scene, and an impressive sporting calendar, I am pleased that Tripadvisor acknowledges London as the top destination in the world," he added.
New York and Rome also featured on the 25th-anniversary list of reviewers' favourite destinations, along with Paris and Bangkok.
Tripadvisor analysed consumer search trends for travel between 1 November 2024 and 31 January 2025 to compile its latest seasonal travel index.
According to site data, Rome's culinary experiences, Bali's cultural traditions, and intimate honeymoons in Mauritius are generating the most excitement among prospective travellers.

A recent review ofthe Cvent supplier network reveals that London is in first place for attracting group enquiries in 2025.
London, Singapore, Dubai and Orlando have each held on to their first-place positions as the cities which annually attract the most group business enquiries in their regions, according to the Cvent Supplier Network.
Between January and December each year, Cvent analyses venue-sourcing activity on its platform, which features more than 12,500 cities worldwide.
Industry-acclaimed ‘Top List’ rankings are then determined by the number of total room nights booked; the number of unique RFPs sent through the marketplace to venues within each city; the value of the RFPs submitted, and the actual value for meetings booked. In 2023, group business tourism valued at US $16 billion was sourced through Cvent’s sourcing network.
The Top Lists are segmented by region for Europe (including the UK), the Middle East & Africa, North America and Asia-Pacific.
Each list reveals which destinations are being considered by Cvent customers for their meetings and events programs, helping hospitality, travel and tourism professionals understand current demand and popularity.
