Positive UK Business Meetings and Events Outlook 2025

The latest report from the Meetings Industry Association (MIA) Insights reveals strong confidence in the UK's business meetings and events sector. A significant 61% of businesses predict higher revenue in 2025.

Cavendish Venues, London’s leading provider of conference and meeting spaces are seeing the same story. So far in 2025 we have received a record number of inquiries, and turnover is at an all-time high. This is a continuation of a trend that has been going on for some time; see our blog piece from Oct 24, Demand for London Conference Venues.

The survey, which included 140 venues, suppliers, agents, and destinations, indicates that 41% of the forecasted revenue for 2025 is already confirmed. Despite a 10% decrease from last year's figures, the industry remains optimistic, anticipating a steady influx of enquiries to drive growth. International events are set to contribute 12% of the projected revenue.

Challenges:

The report also highlights ongoing staffing challenges:

  • Recruitment Difficulties: 48% of businesses reported finding recruitment "somewhat challenging" in the past year, with 18% facing significant difficulties.
  • Barriers: Increased competition for candidates, lack of recruitment resources, and high turnover were major obstacles.
  • Responses: To address these issues, 53% of organisations have introduced work-life balance initiatives, and 38% have enhanced pay and benefits to improve retention.

Contract Disputes and Instant Meetings Booking Trends

Additional findings include:

  • Instant Book Options: One-third (33%) of venues now offer Instant Book options for event organisers.
  • Contract Disputes: One-quarter (25%) of respondents experienced significant contract disputes in the past year.
  • Cancellation Policies: 62% identified cancellation policies as a key challenge in contract negotiations.
