What does the future hold for conferences in 2025?

State of the Conference Industry in 2024

The Global Association of Exhibition Industries recently issued a report based on responses from 453 companies in 68 countries, 2024 revenues are expected to grow by 17%.

Here at Cavendish Venues, 4 leading Central London conference venues. We have seen revenue increase by 22% and enquiry levels by 19%. This is broadly in line with the 14 Annual Global Meetings & Events Forecast produced by Amex.

In 2025 weare expecting this growth to continue though at more subdued levels. This seems to be the view of the major industry players. Today Clarion Events who Nicholas 200 + events per year announced their confidence in the industry was such that they had set aside several hundred million dollars to purchase smaller conference companies. Many of their competitors are also hoping to ride on the growth in the sector, in October Informa the worlds largest business and events provider completed the £1.2bn takeover of Ascential another large events organizer. Smaller rivals Closer Still Media last year acquired UK based UKi Media & Events an events business serving sectors including aerospace transport and infrastructure.

The CEO of Clarion justified this expansion by explaining how “coming to trade shows exhibitions and conferences .. is one of the most highly rated routes to market” in a post covid world.
